Putzu is under investigation for forgery: the accusations are unfounded. "Social media pillorying me."

Andrea Putzu, leader of the Brothers of Italy party in the region, and Saturnino Di Ruscio, former mayor of Fermo
Ancona, November 8, 2025 – “I believe it is right to clarify this matter , leaving it to its natural course. Politics must focus on other matters and await the outcome.” Governor Acquaroli spoke on the sidelines of the Confindustria Pesaro-Urbino assembly regarding the Ancona prosecutor's investigation involving the leader of the Brothers of Italy party (FdI) in the Regional Council, Andrea Putzu from Elpidio. The Brothers of Italy group leader, in his second term in the region, is under investigation for ideological forgery following a complaint filed by former mayor of Fermo (former president of Erap Marche) , Saturnino Di Ruscio, regarding Putzu's alleged ineligibility for the 2020 regional elections, in which Di Ruscio was the first non-elected—after Putzu—in the FdI ranks in the Fermo constituency. “I hope that (Putzu, ed. ) can clarify everything with complete peace of mind,” said Acquaroli.
Di Ruscio raised the issue of Putzu's ineligibility for election in 2020The investigation —we said—began in the summer, at the end of the last parliamentary term, when Di Ruscio raised the issue of Putzu's ineligibility for election in 2020, having been sentenced to eight months and twenty days for ideological forgery, a sentence that became final in 2018, for having authenticated several signatures found to be forged in support of electoral lists for the 2013 general election. Di Ruscio maintains that the conviction was an impediment and should have been mentioned in the 2020 criminal record certificate that all councilors are required to submit, effectively forfeiting Putzu's seat in the regional assembly pursuant to the Severino law. Putzu, however, attested that he did not face any of the grounds for ineligibility and has always disputed this interpretation, maintaining that he had "acted in accordance with the law." "The conviction requires no mention in the criminal record, which is null and void," he explained. "For this reason, I considered myself and continue to consider myself validly elected." Now the Ancona Prosecutor's Office will be the one to resolve the vexed question .
Putzu breaks his silence: "I'm at peace because I know I haven't committed any crime."Meanwhile, Putzu breaks his silence and entrusts his defense to a statement. "I discover that I have been reported by Di Ruscio, resulting in my mandatory registration in the register of suspects," he writes. " I am under investigation like any citizen who is reported , a fact that has been known for some time, given that complaints are now first announced on social media and then filed with the appropriate authorities. I am sorry to note this exploitation to attack me politically , but I am at peace because I know I have not committed any crime." He adds a polemical comment. "I cannot help but note and congratulate you on how information covered by the strictest investigative secrecy was mysteriously leaked and promptly offered up on social media," adds the FdI group leader, "with the sole purpose of reviving the pillory to which I was repeatedly subjected during the election campaign."
The aftermath also affects the Regional CouncilThe affair has a further implication that also affects the Regional Council: in the complaint, Di Ruscio also implicated former Regional Council President Dino Latini and the Secretary of the Legislative Assembly, Antonio Russi, for failure to perform official duties. They allegedly failed to intervene within the timeframe to verify the FdI councilor's ineligibility. Latini claims he has not received any notice of investigation and is at peace with his own actions and those of the Council. At the time, he explained that there would not be time to gather the documentation and then discuss the matter in the chamber, because the assembly was due to expire. As for Putzu, in early September, the Prosecutor's Office served him with a notice of seizure of the documents necessary for the investigation , namely the criminal record that has become the crux of the matter. "I am certain that the Prosecutor's Office will do its job properly and will be able to determine that the charges are unfounded," says Putzu, who meanwhile on August 12th requested and obtained from the Review Court a vacancy for the 2018 conviction, allowing him to run again for the regional elections.
